Yesterday we learned about the reintroduction of the all-new 8 Series. Today at the M Festival BMW has taken it a step further by revealing its pre-production #M8 model. Even more exciting than merely the 8 Series itself, the M8 marks a brand-new segment for BMW in the M division. As in the case of any typical M Car, although the M8 will borrow much of the design language and hallmarks of the 8 Series itself, a great deal of its technology will be augmented to support greater track performance capability. This means a lighter chassis, upgraded suspension and sharper transmission. Now in terms of the engine... Speculation holds that it will adopt one of two BMW production engines. Either the same S63 4.4 litre TwinTurbo V8 from the all-new F90 M5, or the 6.6 Litre TwinTurbo V12 from the 760Li. In either case the the fact remains that the M8 will pack a promising 600+ horsepower. Whether or not BMW chooses to adopt a lighter weight but slightly less powerful V8, or a heavier but powerhouse of a V12 engine is yet to be seen. Stay tuned for more information regarding the release of the upcoming BMW M8.
