M8 GRAN COUPE IN GREATER DETAIL

1/20/2019

Yesterday at the Geneva Motor Show BMW debuted the world premiere of the upcoming F93 M8 GranCoupe Concept Car. The concept features BMW’s new design language and marks a noted departure from the existing lineup. As with all BMW concept cars, much remains unknown. What we do know is that the M8 is scheduled to hit the market at some point in 2019.

The rumoured powertrain of the M8 GC is subject to a lot of speculation at this time. Upon reveal M boss Frank van Meel referenced existing market competitors and their adoption of four-wheel drive systems, stating that the upcoming M8 will feature a similar setup. On this basis I think it is safe to assume the M8 will incorporate the same ///M X-Drive (variable) all-wheel drive found in the F90 M5. The M8 will likely feature the same motor as the F90 as well, however, seeing as it will become the new flagship, I speculate it will see a slight increase in power to the tune of 625 horsepower at the minimum.

This will be combined with a lightweight design (visible carbon structure roof) and low centre of gravity to deliver a typical ///M car driving experience. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

That’s right a staggering 2.8 second 0-60 mph result has been recorded by caranddriver.com in the all-new F90 M5. Taking advantage of a redeveloped S63tu motor making 600 horsepower, the F90 M5 features larger turbos making higher peak boost, 24.46 psi to be exact, as well as variable all-wheel drive in the form of ///M X-Drive - all of which culminating to deliver that 2.8 second 60 mph launch time. The F90 is, now more than ever, truly the fastest @BMW out of Bavaria 👏🏻👍🏻👌🏻

3.2 seconds. Behold the fastest BMW to ever come out of Bavaria. The all-new BMW F90 M5. BMW's first M Series all-wheel drive performance sedan. BMW is scheduled to lift the veil on the brand's upcoming high-performance saloon tomorrow, however, in the meantime you can enjoy the leaked information. BMW's newest, and fastest, performance sedan adopts a variant of BMW's M all-wheel drive which sends power to the front and rear wheels variably in accordance with the driving situation at hand. 600 horsepower will be channeled through the power train derived from a twin-turbo V8 mated to a ZF sourced 8 speed automatic transmission. This in turn results in a 3.2 second 0-100 km/hr launch time. Stay tuned for more updates and hands on photos and videos to come 😈

THE BRAND-NEW M3 CS (F80) "THE BEST VERSION OF THE BEST VERSION"

1/20/2019

The #F80 M3 CS has officially undergone development testing. What that means for BMW enthusiasts is the M3 will have a new top-model that sits above the standard and competition level variants in terms of track performance. Up until now the CS has only been featured in the M4. BMW has redesigned their #S55 engine to now achieve 460 horsepower ( 338 kW) and 442 lb-ft of torque (600 Nm). This is achieved by taking advantage of enhanced tuning rather than adopting the GTS' water injection tech as originally speculated. In addition the M3 CS will gain lightweight features from the GTS including the carbon fibre hood, revised doors and the CS’s M Performance wheels. Disappointing however is what appears to be the lack of OLED taillights which were a staple of the M4 CS, that apparently didn’t make in to the M3 in favour of the LCI LED’s. Let me know what you guys think and stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming M3 CS.

the m8 concept is here

Yesterday we learned about the reintroduction of the all-new 8 Series. Today at the M Festival BMW has taken it a step further by revealing its pre-production #M8 model. Even more exciting than merely the 8 Series itself, the M8 marks a brand-new segment for BMW in the M division. As in the case of any typical M Car, although the M8 will borrow much of the design language and hallmarks of the 8 Series itself, a great deal of its technology will be augmented to support greater track performance capability. This means a lighter chassis, upgraded suspension and sharper transmission. Now in terms of the engine... Speculation holds that it will adopt one of two BMW production engines. Either the same S63 4.4 litre TwinTurbo V8 from the all-new F90 M5, or the 6.6 Litre TwinTurbo V12 from the 760Li. In either case the the fact remains that the M8 will pack a promising 600+ horsepower. Whether or not BMW chooses to adopt a lighter weight but slightly less powerful V8, or a heavier but powerhouse of a V12 engine is yet to be seen. Stay tuned for more information regarding the release of the upcoming BMW M8.

BMW reveals the m4 cs (f82)

1/20/2019

BMW has officially unveiled the brand-new M4 CS at the Shanghai AutoShow.
The M4 CS, or coupe sport, is intended to sit above the current generation Competition Package and standard M4, however, below the top model GTS. This is good news for enthusiasts because it marks a new top model for the BMW M4 with un-limited production volume; this is unlike the current top model GTS which has been limited to only 700 units which are all sold out. BMW has redesigned their S55 engine to now achieve 460 horsepower ( 338 kW) and 442 lb-ft of torque (600 Nm). This is achieved by taking advantage of enhanced tuning rather than adopting the GTS' water injection tech as originally speculated. The 0-100 km/hr time is rated for 3.9 seconds, however considering that this is what the Competition Package M4 is capable of that figure appears to be susceptible to BMW's notorious under-rating, and the actual 0-100 time could be much quicker. The M4 CS also incorporates many GTS features including it's OLED rear taillights, a shortened (and more practical) carbon fibre front lip spoiler and front hood, as well as weight saving interior features including exposed raw carbon door panels and straps instead of handles. The M4 CS weighs in at only slightly less than the current Competition Package M4. Despite this however, BMW CEO, Harold Kruger, has mentioned that the car has been dynamically rebalanced to be more agile and more capable on the track. Considering that the M4 CS laps the Nurburgring in a mere 7 minutes and 38 seconds, his sentiment ought to be accepted. That puts the M4 CS on par with the Lexus LFA and the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera in terms of lap times. Not bad for a German luxury coupe.

Technical Engine Data: • TwinPower Turbo • #S55 • Inline-6 • 24 Valve • 3.0 Litre • 460hp (338 kW) @ 6250 rpm • 444   lb·ft (600 N·m) of torque @ 4000-5500 rpm • Weight 1580 kg (3483 lbs) • 0-100 km/hr in 3.9 seconds with DCT • Source: @bmw *stock figures

BMW 8 Series Concept

1/20/2019

BMW has officially unveiled its plans for the reintroduction of the 8 Series. Formerly a 1990’s V8 and V12 powered luxury coupe, the modern 8 Series marks the second generation for implementation in the BMW lineup. The modern 8 Series is still officially a Concept Car meaning that, although it is guaranteed a production run in some capacity, much of the design language is subject to change. The second generation 8 Series is expected to compete with the likes of the Mercedes Benz S Class coupe and Lexus LC500, reaffirming BMW’s footing in the ultra high-end modern luxury coupe market. Expect more details to unfold in time but for now we have the official concept photos to speculate as to the surety of the final production model’s design language and characteristics.

the f30 340i with the all-new b58 engine

1/20/2019

Behold the 335i replacement, the all-new 340i. With it BMW has introduced the brand-new #B58 engine, 6 cylinder, at the core of the 340i's power. Based on its #N55 twin-scroll turbocharged predecessor, the B58 boasts a turbine 6% larger in size than that of the outgoing 335i combined with a compressor wheel diameter that is 10% larger, resulting in a 20% increase in total boost pressure. This results in the 340i making power figures of up to 320 hp (239 kW). We can safely assume that this figure is underrated on the basis of the outgoing 335i's also heavily underrated numbers.
